Susan Young

Susan is the Owner/Administrator of Montessori School of Novato.  She bought the school in 1985 after teaching at Montessori de Terra LInda for 5 years.

Susan was born and raised in Marin County.  She lives in Novato with her husband.  They have three children, a daughter who just graduated from college, a son who is in his first year of college and a daughter who is a junior in high school.

Susan has a B.A. in Child Psychology from San Francisco State University and an Association Montessori International Diploma.

In her spare time she likes to read, walk her 2 dogs, play golf and tennis.

Meet the Teachers

Primary Teachers

Malin Guerrero has worked  at Montessori School of Novato since 1997.  She holds a B.A. in History and Geography and a AMS Primary Montessori Teaching Credential.  A native of the East Coast, Malin has lived in California for the past 13 years. When not teaching, Malin enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, spending time with her husband, daughter and animals, and just enjoying nature.

Kathleen Whitaker has been with Montessori School of Novato since 1997. She holds an Association Montessori Internationale Teaching Credential. Prior to this she worked as a Director of Youth Activities for the Morale Welfare and Recreation for the Department of the Navy.  Kathy is a California native , although she has lived outside of California due to her husband's Military career. She has two adult children that are currently working in the Bay Area.  In her spare time she enjoys artistic endeavors. Gardening and cooking are also her passions.

Pre-Primary Teacher

Linda Coffey has been with Montessori School of Novato since 1991.  She holds a B.A in Liberal Arts with a minor in Child Development and a AMS Primary Montessori Teaching Credential.  Linda is a native to California and has lived in Novato for the past ten years.   When Linda is not teaching she enjoys reading, watching a good movie, and spending time with her family.

All staff at Montessori School of Novato are CPR and First Aide certified.  Head teachers have Montessori credentials, assistants and aftercare staff have a minium of 12 ECE units.
